4零残忍的化妆品牌立即尝试

Everyone is hopping on the cruelty-free train these days! Some of the biggest names in makeup, hair and skincare, like Marc Jacobs Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills and bareMinerals, have all recently announced their efforts to protect the bunnies and hamsters by NOT testing their products on animals. This is awesome news for us beauty-obsessed consumers. With compassionate companies like these, you know you are getting high-quality beauty and skincare products that not only perform great but are also ethically sourced, manufactured and tested. To help you navigate the sometimes difficult waters of cruelty-free beauty, we’ve compiled a list of our top four cruelty-free makeup (and skincare!) brands you absolutely need to try now!

What Is Cruelty-Free Makeup?

In the simplest of terms, cruelty-free makeup is a label attached to cosmetic products that do not harm or test on any animals. It is oftentimes difficult to define this term because the FDA has not released a legal definition of what actually makes a beauty product cruelty-free. As a consumer, this can be difficult to swallow if you’re in the process of converting your makeup repertoire to one that doesn’t test on animals.

Animal rights organization PETA takes things a step further by having many cruelty-free companies sign its statement of assurance. This verifies that neither their suppliers (of ingredients or formulations) nor they have conducted, commissioned or paid for any tests on animals.

This opens up a whole slew of other questions, like “Because my makeup doesn’t harm animals, is it vegan?” Navigating these waters can also be murky: vegan makeup is described as what goes into the product, not necessarily how the product is made. This means that cruelty-free products can contain non-vegan ingredients like honey, beeswax, collagen and gelatin, making the product cruelty-free but not vegan friendly.

If you’re a label reader like me, you should be looking for beauty products that have labels like these attached from accredited organizations:

It’s also a smart idea to check out the other ingredients listed on the label. Just because a product is listed as cruelty-free doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a clean product. Watch out for additives like parabens, SLS and phthalates, all of which are common irritants in personal care products.

4 Cruelty-Free Makeup Brands to Try

Now that you have the basics down, I’m going to share my tried-and-true (I promise, I’ve tested a LOT of beauty products over the years), favorite cruelty-free makeup brands—and a couple of reasons why I personally love them!

帕斯菲卡

To me, Pacifica can do no wrong! They have a huge selection of skin, hair and makeup products, all of which are cruelty-free and 100 percent vegan. A couple of my favorite products that I use on the daily include their Coconut Milk Cream to Foam Face Wash, because it’s super gentle, affordable, removes my makeup and smells amazing! Their Hair & Body Mist in any scent (they all smell great), their Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mineral Mascara for mile-long lashes, and for the prettiest highlight that you’ll ever use (promise!), their Ice Baby Mineral Highlighter. It has coconut oil in it!

Mineral Fusion

Next up, Mineral Fusion! Mineral Fusion is a brand that I feel like has been around forever, so you know they’re the real deal! Their BB Cream All-in-One Illuminating Luminous Finish is one of my go-tos for a quick no-makeup makeup look. It has an illuminating tint to it, which makes your skin look so glowy, and it has SPF added into it (win-win, in my eyes)! Definitely worth a try if you don’t like thick, cakey foundations. Their Pressed Powder Foundation is also another product I reach for a lot. I use this product more like a setting powder to set my face, and I find it helps my makeup last throughout the day and sometimes into the night if I’m not particularly oily that day. They also have a bunch of skin, body, hair and even nail care products, so check them out to help make the switch a little easier.

丁香+万圣节

This is a cruelty-free makeup brand I find myself reaching for all the time, sometimes even over my everyday favorite products. I will rock any shade of their Lip Velvet Liquid Lipsticks because they don’t ever budge, (even after eating a salad with an oil-based dressing!), they glide on easily, are comfortable on the lips, and the color payoff is seriously amazing. The shade Sugar Bear is always within reach on my vanity (or in my purse)! They also have a product called Makeup Melt, which, as the name suggests, literally melts your makeup off. Full face or waterproof mascara doesn’t stand a chance with this product! Need one more reason to try this product? It contains only six ingredients, meaning it’s non-irritating (especially to the eyes, if you’ve ever used a product like this before).

Emani

Rounding up my list of the best cruelty-free makeup brands is Emani. If you’ve ever tuned into any of my simple makeup tutorials on our YouTube channel, you know this brand is a favorite of mine. Emani’s line, while being cruelty-free, is also 100 percent vegan. With products ranging from hydrating primers and lightweight concealers to volumizing mascaras and brightly colored eye shadow trios, this brand really has got the whole green beauty thing down to a science. Some of my favorite products include their Perfect 10 Primer Serum, which keeps your makeup from slipping and sliding, their Hydrating Lip Colors are amazing for a bright, creamy pop of color, and their Bye Bye Shine Setting Powder is great to set eyelids after a particularly oily primer, or I’ll throw it into my bag to remove any shine or blot where any foundation cakes into the lines on my face.

你有它!A (mini) crash course, diving headfirst into the world of cruelty-free makeup!

Did I miss a brand that you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments so I can check it out and maybe it will become one of my “holy grail” beauty products!
